Why your business email belongs on your own domain

Why your business email belongs on your own domain

A quote sent from a Gmail address and the same quote sent from name@yourcompany.iq are not the same quote. The first one makes the client wonder who they are dealing with. The second one doesn't.

The address is part of the offer

Clients in Iraq still check the basics before they pay: is there a website, a phone number, an address that belongs to the company? An email on your own domain answers all three at once. It tells the client that the company owns its name and isn't going anywhere.

A free address costs nothing to open, and the client knows that.

The mailbox belongs to the company, not the employee

When a salesperson leaves and their personal Gmail held two years of client conversations, those conversations leave with them. On your own domain, the company keeps the mailbox. You can hand it to the next person, forward it, or archive it, and the client keeps writing to the same address.

Fewer messages lost in spam

Mail servers trust a domain that proves who is allowed to send for it. That proof is three DNS records: SPF lists the servers that may send your mail, DKIM signs every message, and DMARC tells receivers what to do with mail that fails both. Set up properly, your invoices land in the inbox instead of the spam folder. Most of the "the client never got it" problems we fix come down to one of these three missing.

Phishing is harder to fake

Someone can open a Gmail called yourcompany.sales in five minutes and write to your clients. With DMARC enforced on your domain, mail pretending to come from it is rejected before it reaches anyone. That protects your clients as much as it protects you.

What it takes

A domain (.iq or .com), a mail plan sized to your team, and an afternoon to set up the records and move the old mailboxes. We usually move a small company over in a day, with the old messages copied across and nothing lost in between.

Where to start

List every address your team uses today with clients, including personal ones. That list is the plan: each one becomes a mailbox or an alias on your domain, and the move can begin.
